ONLINE APPRENTICESHIP SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTION 

This page contains procedures for apprentices that opted for the On-Line supplemental instruction. If you are not enrolled for On-Line instruction, this page will not apply to you. Please note that these instructions may change and we recommend visit every week.

The most important concern for CCBUAC is the health and safety of all their employees, vendors and students. Consider the following requests for everyones safety: 

  • Appointment Required

  • Mask Required 

  • Sanitize hand before entering building/offices.

Note: If you feel sick or have flu like symptoms DO NOT ENTER, Stay home and seek medical attention. 

Procedure to obtain valid credit hours Related and Supplemental Instruction (RSI)/240 Hour Online Cosmetology and Barbering Course *5 Hour Credit will be given per chapter assignment

Follow the steps below:

Step 1

YOUR ADMINISTRATIVE FEE PAYMENTS KEEP THIS PROGRAM GOING. FUNDS RECEIVED ARE DESTINED TO COVER THE PROGRAM ADMINISTRATIVE AND TEACHING STAFF COSTS. 

We account for those payments as "Administrative Fee" for that reason.

 

In order to make your payment, use your assigned STUDENT #.

Upon completing payment, you will receive a receipt.

How often should I make a payment?

We kindly ask you to make a contribution payment every time you take a class online or in person.

​

Remember you must attend class a minimum of twice a month according to the program regulations.​

​

For your security:

  1. You should make your contribution payments using our on line system.

  2. We will not call asking for your credit card for personal information. Please ignore such calls, as calls made by scammers are common these days.

  3. In case you cannot make contribution payments online, write to us at info@cosmeticaedu.com, indicating the reason, and we will respond to coordinate a payment method with you.

Step 2

Please make sure to register for zoom with your full legal name, as this is how we take attendance. 

Your zoom is hosted according to your trade. 

 

The schedule is below:

ZOOM CLASSES ARE IMPARTED ON MONDAYS .

Be sure to attend using your Zoom application.

Cosmo Spanish: 10:00 - 11:30 AM

Cosmo English: 12:00 - 1:30 PM

Barber English: 2:00 - 3:30 PM

Barber Spanish: 4:00 - 5:30 PM

***Your zoom meeting ID and passcodes can be found in your Thinkific portal or your email (the one you received when your apprentice license was first issued)

Step 3

To access your student portal account (thinkific platform), take the class of the day and take exam, watch videos and view schedules you must: 

1.) Enter your USERNAME (your email) 2.) Enter your Student password that was previously sent by email.

3.) Upon entering your student account you will find your Zoom MEETING ID and PASSCODE among the materials presented.

*You must make sure you are using a valid email in order to receive your student information.

​

You are required to pay full attention to class. You can not be at work or driving while taking an online class. If you missed a class, full or partially, remember that classes are recorded and you can play them back on the Student Portal. 

​

IMPORTANT!: You must complete STEP 1 and STEP 2 before moving on to STEP 3,

AND pass your exams (Book Chapter and BBC Health and Safety Exam) immediately after the class.

Apprentice Daily Records:

Did you know…

 

  1. Did you know that the number one reason for Apprentice License cancellations is not having Apprentice Daily Records completed correctly in the shop/salon and submitted to your program sponsor?
    Please read the following so that you can stay informed and not be another cancellation statistic.

  2. When must I begin turning in my Apprentice Daily Records?
    Apprentice Daily Records must be submitted to Cosmetica your program sponsor the month after beginning employment at the approved establishment.

  3. How often do I submit Apprentice Daily Records?
    Apprentice Daily records must be submitted to Cosmetica your program sponsor the 15 of the following month (ie. the apprentice daily record for August must be completed and turned in no later than the 15 of September)

  4. Did you know that the most common error Apprentices make when completing timesheets is…
    The most common error Apprentices make when completing their Apprentice Daily Records is that they forget to fill out the top portion with their personal and license information completely.

  5. When must I complete my Apprentice Daily Record for the current month? Apprentice Daily Records must be filled out each and every day. 

  6. When does my trainer or the owner of the shop/salon need to sign my Apprentice Daily Record?
    Apprentice Daily Records must be signed until the end of the month once the Apprentice Daily Record has been filled out completely. 

  7. Did you know that not having your Apprentice Daily Records both present in the approved place of employment and completed correctly is motive for a fine?
    Fines rates can range from $100 to $200.

  8. Where do I keep my Apprentice Daily Records at the shop/salon?
    Apprentice Daily Records must be stored either in the shop/salon’s reception or in the office inside your Apprentice file.

  9. What if an inspector asks for my Apprentice Daily Records and I left them at home?
    You are subject to fines, your program sponsor will be contacted immediately, and you run the risk of having your Apprentice license cancelled.

  10. What if an inspector asks for my Apprentice Daily Records and my Apprentice Daily Records are empty but signed already?
    You are subject to fines, your program sponsor will be contacted immediately, and you run the risk of having your Apprentice license cancelled.

  11. What if an inspector asks for my Apprentice Daily Records and my employer notifies them that I left the shop months ago and I never completed the Apprentice Daily Records or Requested a transfer?
    Apprentices must begin completing their Apprentice Daily records immediately after  receiving their Apprentice License. Failure to do so, can make you subject to fines, your program sponsor will be contacted immediately, and you run the risk of having your license cancelled for failing to comply with program Rules and Regulations. Furthermore, any hours accrued after leaving the salon will not count towards program completion.

  12. Do I keep filling out my Apprentice Daily Records if I completed the 3200 related training hours?If you have completed the 3200 hours before you reach the 21 months you must continue filling out your Apprentice Daily Records until you reach the 21 month mark. However, if you have reached 21 months and have not finished your 3200 hours you must continue working until you do. (If you have questions or concerns please reach out to a Cosmetica Representative for a program completion status update.)

  13. If I have been in the program for 18 months and completed the 3200 hours am I done?
    No. Apprentice Daily records must be completed a minimum of 21 months. The 3200 On the Job Training Hours are a minimum of hours required.

  14. Do I add the 240 RSI hours to my Apprentice Daily records?
    Yes. You must add your 240 Related Training Hours in the second portion of highlighted in yellow. 

  15. What if I do not add 240 RSI hours to my Apprentice Daily records?
    If you fail to add your 240 Related Training Hours to your Apprentice Daily Records your Daily Record will not be accepted.

  16. What if I surpass the 240 RSI hours? The apprentice program requires a minimum of 240 Related Training Hours. If you fail to keep track of your Related Training Hours and cover additional Administrative fees, you will not receive a refund as these fees are non-refundable. It is your responsibility to keep track of your RSI hours.

  17. What if I requested a license extension? Do I continue completing the Apprentice Daily Records?
    Yes. You must continue completing your Apprentice Daily Records until either your Apprentice License Expires or you quit employment with the establishment under your license. 

  18. What if I already applied for my State Board Exam and my license is still active? Do I continue submitting my Apprentice Daily Records?
    Yes. You must continue completing your Apprentice Daily Records until either your Apprentice License Expires or you quit employment with the establishment under your license.

  19. How many hours can I work?
    Begin working at the approved establishment (no less than 32 and no more than 40 hours per week). You must work no more than 8.5 hours per day.

Online Classes ZOOM class

​

  1. What time are my ZOOM classes?
    Zoom classes for Cosmetologists and Barbers are held according to the schedule described above, in the STEP 2, Zoom section above, on this page. .

  2. Where can I find the ZOOM code?
    ZOOM codes are emailed to you through the email provided upon enrollment. Also ZOOM codes can be found in your THINKIFIC (exam) browser after the calendar for the day.

  3. Do ZOOM codes change each class?
    No. The ZOOM codes provided will remain the same throughout the entire program.

  4. What if I cannot make it into ZOOM on the hours listed?
    You are required to take a minimum of 2 Related Training classes per month. Zoom classes for Cosmetologists and Barbers are held via the ZOOM teleconferencing. See (1) above . No exceptions will be made.

  5. When do I pay my Administrative Fee for class? 
    Your Administrative Fee must be paid the day of class before your class attendance.

  6. If I log into ZOOM and forget to pay my Administrative Fee the day of class, can I pay  the next day?
    No. If you forget to pay your Administrative Fee you will not receive credit for the class.

  7. Who can take the Tuesday Related Training Class?
    Students who took the Monday Related Training Class have the privilege to take Tuesday class if they are behind on Related Training Hours.

  8. If I miss the Monday Related Training Class can I take the class on Tuesday?
    No.

  9. How do I create a ZOOM account?
    You can create a ZOOM account by visiting: zoom.us

  10. Can I take the class in a different language?
    ZOOM classes must correspond the language your books are in (ENGLISH:ENGLISH) and (SPANISH:SPANISH).

  11. How do I get ZOOM codes for class?
    ZOOM codes were either emailed or texted to you. If you did not receive the code please log-in to your Thinkific and look under “Zoom Access Codes.”

  12. What do I do after I finish my ZOOM class?
    After completing the ZOOM class, you must follow the instructions to log into your Thinkific site (Exam Browser.)
